Dr. Cory A. Messerschimdt, M.D.
Dr. Cory A. Messerschmidt is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, with specialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopy. This includes the diagnosis and treatment of athletic injuries and conditions of the shoulder, knee, and foot/ankle.
Dr. Messerschmidt grew up in Chantilly, VA. He attained his Bachelor of Science degree at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where he graduated with high honors, followed by his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA.
He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC, where he served as chief resident. He then went on to complete an additional year of specialty training in sports medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. While at Emory, he helped take care of a wide variety of patients and athletes, including the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Georgia Tech athletics (NCAA).
Dr. Messerschmidt is currently an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Georgia Orthopaedic Society (GOS). He also serves as team orthopedist for multiple high schools in South Georgia.
Outside of the office, Dr. Messerschmidt enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include running, playing golf and tennis, adding to his vinyl record collection, and grilling in the backyard.
