Dr. Richard W. Murphy, M.D.
Dr. Richard Murphy is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment and surgery of the spine. A summa cum laude graduate of Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, Dr. Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. He received his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia and completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Dr. Murphy completed a spine surgery fellowship at the Charlotte Spine Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. A Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, member of the North American Spine Society, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Murphy specializes in all aspects of spine surgery.
Upon completion of his spine fellowship, Dr. Murphy returned to his hometown of Thomasville, Georgia to join Thomasville Orthopedic Center in 2001. He and his wife, Mary Grace, have one daughter: Ann Rollins. They are enthusiastic supporters of Thomasville Landmarks, Thomasville Center for the Arts, and Dr. Murphy’s alma mater, Brookwood School. He is a member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church and in his spare time, enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family on their local farm.
